HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad Enforcement Wing, during the last four months, booked 22 cases of food adulteration and apprehended 28 persons involved in various offences that pose serious risks to public health.

The police focused on areas including bakery products, sweets and namkeen items, edible oils, wheat flour, ginger-garlic paste, meat products, ice creams, sauces, and the illegal reuse of cooking oil.

“We found that several units were using expired ingredients, synthetic food colours, and unsafe chemicals. In many cases, food items were being manufactured and stored in highly unhygienic conditions without valid FSSAI or trade licenses,” said an official of Cyberabad police.

A major case involved large-scale adulteration of edible oil and wheat flour, where over 5,026 litres of oil and 5,192 kilograms of flour were seized. The police also uncovered illegal manufacturing units producing ginger-garlic paste using harmful preservatives and fake branding.

“In total, adulterated food items, machinery, and vehicles worth approximately Rs 64.07 lakh have been seized,” added the official.
