Malkajgiri police raided an alleged adulterated-spices unit in Medipally and seized 10.89 tonnes of turmeric, chilli, coriander and garam masala powders worth Rs 25 lakh. Police said sawdust was found in chilli powder and fake labels were used on products.
The Hyderabad Kirana Merchants Association has resolved to take disciplinary action, including terminating membership, against traders found involved in food adulteration or other unethical practices, while urging members to strictly comply with food safety laws and FSSAI regulations.
The H-FAST team raided six food establishments in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, detecting violations including unhygienic conditions, reused cooking oil, artificial colours, expired products and poor sanitation. Six persons were apprehended and handed over to Food Safety Officers for further action.
