Cyberabad Cybercrime police solved two major fraud cases in a week, arresting seven suspects from different states. They recovered Rs 75.12 lakh for 53 victims and cracked a Rs 2.7 crore corporate impersonation scam involving the Greenko Group
Hyderabad: In one week’s time, the Cyberabad Cybercrime team has solved two major cases and arrested seven offenders from different states across India.
During the same period, the cybercrime police also facilitated refunds worth Rs 75.12 lakh to victims in 53 cases, after obtaining 240 refund orders from the court.
According to Cybercrime officials, between October 1 and 8, five suspects were held for supplying bank accounts used in cyber frauds, while two others were nabbed in connection with an impersonation scam. All five linked to the bank account fraud have been remanded to judicial custody.
Further, the Cyberabad Police also cracked Rs 2.7 crore corporate impersonation fraud involving the Greenko Group.
Officials said fraudsters impersonated the company’s Managing Director on WhatsApp and tricked its finance officials into transferring funds to fake accounts. Two suspects – Sandeep Roop and Avinash Kumar were arrested in Bengaluru.
