Kothagudem: Cybercriminals have threatened an eye doctor, Dr. Narayana Rao, practising in Bhadrachalam, by claiming he was involved in illegal activities linked to his mobile number and Aadhaar credentials.
The criminals made several video calls to Dr. Rao on Thursday, alleging that his phone number was being used for unlawful activities. They warned that he would face a “digital arrest” and directed him to appear before the police in Bengaluru.
Claiming that 17 cases were filed against him in Bengaluru, they further alleged that another mobile number was activated using his Aadhaar card. Alarmed, Dr. Rao lodged a complaint, and the Kothagudem police registered a case and launched an investigation.
