Cycle rally held to bring awareness on environment in Karimnagar
The rally started from Ambedkar stadium reached SRR college ground by passing through collectorate, Telangana chowk, R and B guest house and district court.
Karimnagar: In a bid to create awareness among the public about protection of environment, a 5 km cycle rally was organised in Karimnagar town on Thursday.
As part of Swatch Sarvekshan programme, Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar in association with District Youths and Sport Department organised the rally.
The rally started from Ambedkar stadium reached SRR college ground by passing through collectorate, Telangana chowk, R and B guest house and district court.
MCK Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy, MCK Commissioner Valluru Kranthi, trainee collector Ankitha, other officials, students and others participated in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Sunil Rao opined that besides environment protection, regular cycling would help the people to maintain physical fitness. In the wake of environmental changes, there should be a change in the life style of the people, he advised.
People should practice cycling everyday if they want to stay fit physically, he said and informed to developed cycle tracks in SRR college as well as Satavahana university for the convenience of cyclists.
Separate line would also be drawn on roads of the town for cyclists, he also informed.
Mayor advised the people to travel on cycles twice in a week by setting aside vehicle to protect the environment. Cycle rally was organized keeping in the mind of environment protection.
Advising the people to maintain their localities a clean, he wanted the people to manufacture vermicompost by using dry and wet garbage generated in the houses. Vermicompost should be used for growing of trees.
