Hyderabad : “A coach turns dreams into reality.” It is a well-worn proverb. But young Smrithi Kumaresan, who came all the way from Coimbatore to train here at a camp conducted by Maxwell Trevor Cycling Welfare Association (MTCWA), decided to present a pictorial memento inscribing these words to her coach (Maxwell Trevor) at a function here on Tuesday.
The function was held by MTCWA which successfully conducted the special camp of Kids Talent Identification Championship at SATS Cycling Velodrome in Osmania University. Maxwell and his dedicated coaches identified 40 trainees out of 650 who came for the Talent Identification competition held on August 21 at RRC grounds. This special camp was recognized by the Cycling Federation of India.
“We focused on young children of the age group 6-14 years at the MTCWA. We provided cycles and nutritional food. Our focus was also on overall development in the children with a special attention on fitness and eating healthy. At the camp the trainees were put through professional training. I was assisted by K Pasha and A. Krishna,” said Trevor.
Apart from fitness, special emphasis was given on bike skills, balancing skills, strength development, anaerobic and aerobic energy systems to various physical activities. “It was amazing to see children as small as 5 years taking part in the daily routine. We also held competitions in the camp to give the feeling of match fitness,” he added.

Here in the city, the children came as far as from Bharatnagar, Medchal changing two buses. I’m grateful to the parents who encouraged their children in a big way with regular active participation. The periodical theory sessions were also attended by the parents.’’
