Karimnagar: BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister, Gangula Kamalakar said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao introduced the Dalit Bandhu scheme for the comprehensive development of Dalit communities. The Minister distributed Rs 2.60 crore worth Dalit Bandhu assets to beneficiaries in a programme held in Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kamalakar said Dalits, who used to work as drivers and cleaners, were becoming owners of vehicles being distributed under the Dalit Bandhu scheme. To better the condition of Dalits, the Chief Minister had introduced the Dalit Bandhu scheme and was providing Rs 10 lakh to each Dalit family. On Friday, 24 beneficiaries were given 10 units including six harvesters, three excavators and a DCM van.
While the cost of each harvester is Rs 22 lakh, the excavator costs Rs 34 lakh. Rs 24 lakh is the cost of DCM van. A total of Rs 2.60 crore worth of vehicles were distributed to beneficiaries, he said. Three to four beneficiaries by forming a team were purchasing harvesters or excavators or DCM vans, he added and opined that it would help the beneficiaries to get more benefits. Minister advised the beneficiaries to develop economically by selecting the most demandable units.
Zilla Parishad chairperson Kanumalla Vijaya, MLC Padi Koushik Reddy, MLAs Rasamai Balkishan, and Sunke Ravishankar, SC Corporation chairman Banda Srinivas, Collector RV Karnan, Additional collectors Shyamprasad Lal and Garima Agarwal and others participated in the programme.
