Dalit Bandhu beneficiaries at Warangal railway station on Friday morning.1
Karimnagar: A total of 47 Dalits, who opted to set up dairy units under the Telangana Dalit Bandhu scheme, left for Rohtak in Haryana on Friday to purchase buffalos.
The beneficiaries are from Huzurabad, Jammikunta, Veenavanka and Illandakunta mandal, and took a train from Warangal under the aegis of Vijaya Dairy.
Animal Husbandry district officer B Narender, in a statement, said the beneficiaries were accompanied by two veterinary doctors and an executive engineer to buy milch buffaloes.
Each beneficiary can buy four buffaloes worth Rs 4 lakhs, and they can milk them thrice daily. The process of buying would be completed only when the beneficiaries are fully satisfied, he said.
Veterinary doctors from Vijaya Dairy, Dr Veeresham and Dr Plavan Kumar went to Haryana along with the Dalits.
