Rajanna-Sircilla: District Collector Anurag Jayanthi said the State government had introduced Dalit Bandhu scheme for the economic empowerment of Dalits in the State. Ensuring consistent employment to Dalits was the objective of the scheme, he said.
The Collector was speaking at a review meeting with officials to discuss measures to be taken to implement the Dalit Bandhu scheme in the district on Sunday.
Anurag Jayanthi said the State government was taking steps to provide the benefits of the scheme to Dalits in the State. He instructed officials of the concerned department to complete the responsibilities accorded to them for the successful implementation of the scheme in the district.
He said the beneficiaries would be identified through the survey to be carried out by Revenue officials. Committees along with the local youth would be constituted in the villages which were selected for the scheme.
To provide employment to beneficiaries, officials have to assist beneficiaries to choose different units coming under dairy, agriculture, horticulture, fisheries, industries, civil supplies and other government departments.
Instead of temporary benefits, beneficiaries should select units to get permanent employment, he advised and directed them to conduct another review meeting to discuss permanent employment sources. Officials should attend the meeting along with all details, he instructed.
