Suryapet: Thungathurthy MLA Gadari Kishore on Wednesday said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, with the launch of Dalit Bandhu in Telangana, had laid the foundation for the uplift of Dalits across the country.
The legislator was participating in a programme where Dalits performed ksheerabhishekam to the portrait of the Chief Minister at Telangana Talli statue in Tirumalgiri of Thungathurthy Assembly constituency in the district. They also burst fire-crackers and distributed sweets to celebrate the mandal’s selection for the implementation of Dalit Bandhu as a pilot project. Tirumalgiri mandal is among four mandals in the State selected by the government for implementation of the scheme.
Kishore said that after launching the Dalit Bandhu scheme in the State, demand for such scheme was taking shape in others States in the country. It would lead to a real uplift of Dalits in the country, he exuded confidence.
Stating that the TRS government was following the principles of Dr B R Amedkar, he said that the Chief Minister was keen on the uplift of Dalits in the State. Earlier, Dalits have an opportunity to get one or two lakh rupees through SC Corporation for setting up of units for self-employment. But, Dalit Bandhu would facility them to get Rs 10 lakh financial assistance for the purpose. The Chief Minister came out with the Dalit Bandhu scheme after collecting opinions of Dalit intellectuals and elected representatives, he added.
Stating that the State government was committed to extending support to the beneficiaries of the schemes to run the units also, he said that a corpus fund would be set up with an amount of Rs 10,000 from Rs 10 lakh amount of each beneficiary of the Dalit Bandhu scheme. If any beneficiary faced financial hardship in running the unit, the financial assistance would be extended to them from corpus fund to solve their problems, he added.
He said that the Chief Minister has designed all the welfare schemes in a manner of creating political compulsion for the continuation of their implementation by the governments, which political party may come to power. It was indicating the vision of the Chief Minister on the welfare of the poor people, he added.
Thanking the Chief Minister for selecting Tirumalgiri mandal in his assembly constituency for implementation of Dalit Bandhu scheme, he said that 2,500 Dalit families were going to get benefit in the mandal under Dalit Bandhu scheme.
