Nalgonda: District Central Cooperative Bank (DCCB) Chairman Gongidi Mahender Reddy on Sunday said welfare of farmers and growth of agriculture were accorded top priority by the State government led by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Speaking after inspecting the PACS paddy procurement centre at Bommalaramaram in the district, Mahender Reddy said the State government succeeded in bringing the past glory to agriculture and had ensured that farmers reap profits from cultivation. “The pro-farmers’ initiatives of the Chief Minister brought about this welcome situation. The investment support scheme Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, free electricity supply to farm sector and increase irrigation facility had made Telangana emerge as a model for other States when it comes to agriculture policies,” he said.
He said purchase of paddy from farmers at procurement centres will continue till the last grain is bought. Paddy, which got damaged in the recent rains, will also be purchased from the farmers, he added.
