Hyderabad: Amidst the politics and controversies surrounding the conduct of formula e –race, BRS MLA Danam Nagender, who shifted loyalties to Congress, admitted that formula-e race had enhanced Hyderabad’s brand image.

There should not be iota of doubt that Formula e- race had helped in boosting Hyderabad’s image further. Former united Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had tried a lot to host the formula one race in Hyderabad. Land was also acquired in Gachibowli for the purpose and an international team had also visited Hyderabad however due to different reasons, the formula one race event did not take place in Hyderabad, he recalled during an interview with a youtube channel.

“Formula e –race has definitely boosted Hyderabad’s brand image and drawn international attention,” Danam Nagender stressed.

Regarding the alleged irregularities in conducting the event, the Khairthabad MLA reminded that BRS working president KT Rama Rao has been categorically saying that despite stiff competition among global cities, even Dubai, Hyderabad hosted the event.

“The purpose of hosting the event was to enhance Hyderabad’s image. The Court and probe agencies will have to decide on the corruption and irregularities aspects,” he opined.

The Khairthabad MLA also hailed BRS supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao for introducing several welfare and development programmes in the State.

“He is a great leader. Telangana people will always remember KCR garu for his welfare and development progammes. Though, his language and speeches might appear a bit harsh for a few people but he is a soft hearted person. KCR garu is Bhola Shankar” Danam Nagender said.

The Khairthabad MLA also regretted the unparliamentary language and objectionable comments he made over a few BRS MLAs during a discussion over Hyderabad’s development in the Assembly recently.

“It happened in a bit of rage. I personally apologized to BRS working president KT Rama Rao garu,” Danam Nagender said.

Over Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) demolitions across the city, he said clearing encroachments was acceptable but poor people were being subjected to lot of hardships.

“Their houses were being demolished. It is unfortunate that despite being in power, at times, we have to raise objections against the government over such actions,” Danam Nagender said.

Over the lack of coordination among Congress leaders, especially in Hyderabad, the Khairthabad MLA said none of the party leaders had approached me or discussed the measures to be taken for strengthening the party in the city.

There was a political vacuum in Hyderabad and there was a need to strengthen the cadre. Though Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was taking up a few development works in the city, there was no excitement or response from the cadre, he said, adding that he would raise all these issues with the Chief Minister at an appropriate time.
