Hyderabad: With the recent cyber attack causing widespread technical issues on popular social media platform X and the notorious “Dark Storm Team’ group claiming responsibility for the outage, concerns are being raised if the security systems of national, state and private establishments in the city could also be effected.
The hacking group “Dark Storm Team” claimed responsibility for the distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the platform in a post on Telegram. Hacker groups and cybercriminals often use Telegram to communicate, share information and claim responsibility for attacks. The hacking group is known to hack high security systems too in the past.
As of now, there is no specific information indicating that the Dark Storm Team has directly targeted or impacted Hyderabad. This hacktivist group, known for its pro-Palestinian stance, has primarily focused its cyber-attacks on entities such as NATO countries, Israel, and their allies.
For instance, in February 2024, they issued threats against services and government websites of these nations. More recently, on March 11, 2025, they claimed responsibility for a cyber-attack on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), leading to significant global outages.
Cyber experts from the city said there is no direct evidence of Dark Storm Team targeting Hyderabad. However, the national, state and private establishments have been advised to be cautious and step up their security apparatus.
