Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan termed the rejection of Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination in the Rajya Sabha election as a significant loss to Indian parliamentary democracy. He held the Telangana Congress leadership responsible for the fiasco.
Stating that she represented integrity and grassroots politics, he praised her honesty, Gandhian values and commitment to public life. “Meenakshi Natarajan’s loss due to a technical error is particularly painful,” he said, alleged that she had faced political victimisation because of internal party conspiracies.
The BRS MLC stated that Meenakshi Natarajan previously attempted to correct the dictatorial functioning of the present Telangana leadership and was targeted for her stand. “At a time when money power is increasingly influencing politics, the Parliament needs voices of integrity and principle rather than individuals backed by enormous wealth,” he said.
Calling Natarajan a true grassroots idealist, he said her absence from the Rajya Sabha would be a loss for the country. He urged her not to lose heart and to continue her fight for democratic and constitutional values. “Indian Parliament has lost a genuine idealist. I hope her commitment to principles remains undeterred,” he said.
