Surat: A 22-year-old woman allegedly killed her father by attacking him with a pressure cooker lid and a kitchen knife following an argument over household chores and mobile phone use in Gujarat’s Surat city, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place on the night of October 31 at the Kosad Awas H-5 residential quarters, within the jurisdiction of Amroli police station, Assistant Commissioner of Police (L Division, Surat City) Parth Chovatiya said.
The accused, Kajal, allegedly got into an argument with her father, Rameshsingh Rajput, over household chores. The situation escalated after he also objected to her use of a mobile phone. Kajal then allegedly slammed a pressure cooker lid on his head, the official said.
She also stabbed her father in the abdomen with a kitchen knife, causing serious injuries, Chovatiya said.
Rameshsingh was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the official said.
Kajal was arrested on November 1 and subsequently sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway, he added.
The victim worked as a casual labourer and lived at Kosad Awas with his wife, Manjuben, and Kajal, police said.
