Kothagudem: Superintendent of Police B Rohith Raju said that five DDRF teams formed by the district police to carry out flood relief operations would be available to the public round the clock.
A meeting was organised with Fire Department officials and TGSP 6th Battalion officials here on Thursday to discuss measures to be taken to handle emergency situations. The SP said the DDRF teams were specially trained to deal with any disaster such as Godavari floods.
Life jackets, life buoy rings, pedal boats, ropes, and other equipment required during rescue operations have been provided to the teams. All the departmental officers should act responsibly in coordination to protect people caught in any disaster in any area of the district, he suggested.
In view of heavy rains, people in low-lying areas should always remain alert. In times of disaster, they should call Dial-100 to use the services of the police.
Additional SP (Operations) G Narender, District Fire Officer Kranthi Kumar, 6th Battalion Assistant Commandant Srinivas, Operations RI Ravi, and others attended the meeting.
