Hyderabad: Banners have surfaced across the University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus on intervening night of Sunday and Monday, opposing the Congress government’s decision to auction 400 acres of university land.

The bold banners of the Students Union that read – What is this State..? Deals of Real-Estate #SaveHCU; People Over Profit, Education over Corporates; Trespassers will be Protested (Resisted); Not an Inch More, Not an Inch Back; NSUI- Notoriously Silent on University Issues – were put across various places on the university campus.

The banners directly targeted the State government’s move to auction university land for corporate purposes.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the Students Federation of India (SFI) Hyderabad Central University (HCU) aka UoH said the fight against the State government would continue.

“Banners erupted at various places of Hyderabad Central University as part of the Save HCU land Movement. The fight against Telangana state government will continue under the collective leadership of students, workers, teachers, and non-teaching staff,” the SFI HCU tweeted.

Earlier, scores of students led by the UoH students union, which started the Save UoH lands movement, organised a massive protest against the government at Mushroom Rock. Stating that land auction would create ecological imbalance and destroy flora and fauna on the campus, the students union demanded immediate cancellation of the auction.
