Death toll touches six in Sangareddy accident

Six persons, all residents of Rajgiri village near the Telangana-Karnataka border, were killed after a speeding tanker rammed into a passenger auto on NH-65 in Sangareddy district. The victims, daily wagers from Karnataka, were returning home when the accident occurred, leaving six others injured.

Sangareddy: The death toll in the road accident that occurred at Satwar in Mogudampally mandal rose to six as another injured woman succumbed to injuries late on Tuesday. 

The accident occurred when a speeding tanker hit while the passenger auto carrying daily wagers from neighbouring Karnataka state was attempting a ‘U’ turn on the busy NH-65 on Tuesday night. All the deceased and injured were residents of Rajgiri located 25 km away from Telangana-Karnataka border.

The bodies were taken to Rajgiri after completion of the postmortem at the government hospital in Zaheerabad on Wednesday morning. The six injured women were also shifted to the government hospital in Bidar. 

A pall of gloom descended on the village as all the six deceased and six injured hailed from here. Karnataka Minister Eswar Khandre, local MLA, officials and others visited the village and assured support from the government.
