Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said a decision would be taken shortly on the height of the barrage for the proposed Pranahita-Chevella irrigation project across the Pranahita river. He, along with Dr G Vivek, inspected the project site at Thummidihetti village in Koutala mandal on Friday.

Speaking to mediapersons, Krishna Rao said Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy had written a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis regarding the construction of the project. He stated that a decision relating to the height of the barrage would be taken after meeting Fadnavis next week.

The ministers further said compensation would be given to farmers from Maharashtra who would lose agricultural land due to the construction of the project.

Meanwhile, former Asifabad MLA Athram Sakku faced an embarrassing situation during the visit of Ministers Jupally Krishna Rao and Dr G Vivek to the site of the proposed Pranahita-Chevella project. Sakku was forced to sit on the ground due to a lack of seats on the stage, which was occupied by the ministers. He was visibly inconvenienced while adjusting on the ground.

MLC Dande Vittal, Sirpur (T) MLA Dr Harish Babu, Bellampalli MLA G Vinod, Collector K Harita, Sub-Collector Shraddha Shukla and Additional Collector David were present.
