Siddipet: Former Minister T Harish Rao urged Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to declare Chelkalapally village as displaced under Annapurna reservoir and build a rehabilitation colony besides giving the package to all the citizens.

Since the Irrigation Department was taking up three tmcft canal works close to the village, the road leading to Chelkapally was damaged, cutting access to the village. Since the water of Annapurna reservoir surrounded the village in three other directions, Harish said the villagers were staging protests demanding that the government build a rehabilitation colony declaring them as displaced.

He said that the BRS government had provided the package to two families of Chelkalapally then since these houses were falling under FTL of Annapurna reservoir. However, Harish said that the third tmc of canal works had made the village uninhabitable now.

The former Minister urged Uttam Kumar Reddy to build them a rehabilitation colony and immediately address these issues of people.
