Warangal: A group of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) mains candidates on Tuesday created ruckus and staged a protest at the Hanamkonda Tahsildar office on the issue of delay in the issuance of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category certificates.

According to reports, a large number of EWS category candidates gathered at the Tahsildar’s office and started demanding issuance of EWS certificates to apply for JEE mains 2025. They alleged that the Tahsildar office staff were deliberately not issuing the certificates.

They claimed that the candidates belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and minority were being issued caste certificates and that the EWS category applications were not being entertained.

The candidates gheraoed the Tahsildar and revenue inspector and demanded them to issue the certificates at the earliest.

Tahsildar Sripal Reddy told media that there were no pending applications of EWS category with them and that a few applications were rejected as the candidates failed to submit documents as per the norms.

Meanwhile, Hanamkonda collector P Pravinya asked officials to look into the issue of pending EWS certificates and asked the Tahsildar to take measures to issue EWS certificates to eligible candidates at the earliest.
