Hyderabad: Civil Supplies Corporation Limited Chairman M Srinivas Reddy on Thursday said that stern action would be taken against officials if they showed negligence in payments to farmers after purchasing paddy at the procurement centres.
Since Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has already sanctioned Rs 20,000 crore for paddy purchase, there was no dearth of funds, he said, while reviewing paddy procurement across the State with officials concerned here.
Vigilance teams
He said that the instructions were already issued to officials concerned to complete the payments within three days. The Civil Supplies department has already got reports from districts where farmers complained about delay in getting payments, he said, and instructed officials to focus more on districts where there was delay in making payments for the crop purchase. Separate teams from the Vigilance and Enforcement wing were also constituted to expedite the payment process.
The teams will also focus on overseeing the extent of paddy purchased in each district apart from shifting it to mills followed by the registration through Online Procurement Management System (OPMS) and problems being faced in registration process including getting acknowledgement from millers, he said.
Reddy sought to know the reasons behind the delay in making payments in some districts and said managers in the districts should take the responsibility of rendering justice to farmers.
