Delay in Warangal collectorate inauguration troubling public
The newly constructed integrated district offices complex in Warangal is yet to become operational months after completion. The delay is forcing people to visit offices scattered across Hanamkonda and other areas, causing inconvenience, additional travel and auto-rickshaw expenses
Warangal: Even after the construction of the integrated district offices complex (IDOC) of Warangal district was completed a few months ago, the facility is yet to be brought into use, much to the inconvenience of the public.
The district administration planned to inaugurate the new building in June but could not do so. Afterwards, neither the State government nor the officials have yet provided clarity or made an announcement regarding the inauguration date of the collectorate.
The public has been facing difficulties as they have to visit the temporary collectorate located opposite the DCC Bank in Hanamkonda for their work, with the district headquarters located in one place and administrative operations scattered elsewhere.
Speaking to Telangana Today, a local, Abhilash, stated that if people faced any issues regarding Indiramma houses, they had to visit the housing department office located at the old JC office in Subedari. Similarly, to visit the Civil Supplies office, one has to travel as far as NIT Warangal.
The people are forced to spend hundreds of rupees on auto-rickshaw fares alone. Locating and travelling to offices scattered across different areas for various tasks has become a major challenge for them. The government should make the collectorate complex operational forthwith, he said.
The hardships endured by the public attending the weekly ‘Prajavani’ programme are beyond description. The officials are also facing inconvenience during review meetings held with representatives from various departments.
It might be noted that the foundation stone for the Warangal collectorate, designed with a ground plus two floors structure spanning 150,000 square feet, was laid on June 17, 2023, on the Azam Jahi Mills premises along the main road from Warangal to Narsampet.
The work contract was awarded to a Hyderabad-based firm with a deadline of 18 months to complete the construction at a cost of Rs 80 crore. But the work has been delayed.
