Hyderabad: Delhi Public School, Nacharam celebrated International Human Rights Day on December 10 to honour the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. A special assembly was conducted by students of grade XI to raise awareness about human rights.
A peek into the importance of the day was given after the invocation. A video on basic understanding of the theme of the day ‘Equality, reducing inequalities, advancing human rights’, enraptured the audience. A motivational video on the strength of humanity and the power of oneness proved inspiring. A brief up on various NGO’s which are instrumental in protecting human rights was telecast. A mellifluent song advocating the feeling of universal brotherhood captivated the audience.
Speaking on the occasion, sr vice-principal Nandita Sunkara said that we need to be ambassadors of knowledge and sensitise people around the various rights that are needed for leading a dignified life. Being unaware of human rights would be the biggest violation she further added.
The assembly envisioned by principal Sunitha Rao and ably conducted under the guidance of Saira and Shilpa sent a loud and clear message that human rights belong equally to each of us and bind us together as a global community with the same ideals and values.
