Hyderabad: Students of class I and II of Delhi Public School, Nacharam enthusiastically celebrated World Animal Day on October 4. This day is a global celebration of all the wonderful wild animals and plants found on Earth.
The day commenced with a special assembly. A PowerPoint presentation on the importance of wild animals and forests was presented to kids. The purpose of the celebration was to raise awareness of the dangers that threaten the survival of many animals around the world. The focus of the day is to protect endangered animals, natural habitats i.e forest and act for the welfare of the animals, the school said.
Through classroom discussion, students were apprised about the animals and plants that live in the wild and how they possess intrinsic value and contribute to the ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects of human well-being and sustainable development.
School principal Sunitha Rao welcomed children and emphasized wildlife conservation as an issue that needs attention and action every day. She called all the children as leaders of tomorrow and urged them to remind themselves of their duty to preserve and sustainably use the vast variety of life on the planet.
The celebration concluded with the address of headmistress Uma Kasinadhuni who motivated children to push for a more caring, thoughtful and sustainable relationship with nature. Children have a natural affinity for both animals and plants, as well as art and hence the celebration ended beautifully with our little ones expressing their love and care for animals by creating them using popsicle sticks and clothes peg.
