Demolition begins at collapsed Gachibowli building; occupants of nearby structures asked to vacate
Authorities began demolishing the seven-storey building that collapsed in Anjaiahnagar, Gachibowli, killing two workers. Hyderabad: The authorities have started demolishing the seven storied building that collapsed all of a sudden at Anjaiahnagar, Gachibowli on Saturday afternoon.
Two workers were trapped and killed in the building while some individuals staying in the adjacent buildings suffered injuries in the incident after the huge building collapsed.
On Sunday, teams of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, HYDRAA and other agencies under police protection started demolishing the building constructed without obtaining permission. The official deployed a JCB to pull down the structures. The drizzle is hampering the demolition works in the area.
Occupants of the neighbouring buildings that suffered damage were also being asked to vacate their accommodation as those buildings were also constructed in violation of the existing building rules.
Students, working professionals and other occupants were seen moving out of the premises with their belongings to other accommodations.
A police picket was deployed in the area to prevent any trouble.
