Khammam: A 20-year-old youth attempted to kill his father by attacking him with an axe at Mangalagudem in Khammam rural mandal.

The accused, Bandaru Sathish, had been pressuring his parents to buy him a Bajaj Pulsar bike. Since he was unemployed, his parents refused, which enraged him.

On the night of August 14, Sathish attacked his father Nagaiah with an axe, causing fractures to his head and face. He also tried to assault his mother, Nagalakshmi, but she managed to escape.

With the help of locals, Nagalakshmi rushed her injured husband to a private hospital. Speaking to the media on Saturday, she said Sathish had assaulted them earlier too over the demand for a bike.

Based on her complaint, Khammam rural police booked a case under Section 109 (attempt to murder) of the BNS, arrested the youth and produced him before court, following which he was remanded to judicial custody.
