Jangaon: In a tragic incident, a teenaged girl committed suicide by hanging herself from a tree near their house at Vavila village of Palakruthy mandal in the district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sheela Sindhuja (16), daughter of Majula-Venkanna.

The incident took place when the parents, who a labourers, went to work. She was studying 9th class at the government high school at Vavila village. Sindhuka had taken the extreme step since the parents did not buy a smartphone for her, source said.

Palakurthy police shifted the body to government hospital, Jangaon, for autopsy, registered a case and began investigation.
