‘Depressed’ constable found hanging from ceiling fan at home in Hyderabad

Janavath Kiran, posted at Filmnagar police station, reportedly ended his life as he was depressed over family issues

Hyderabad: A police constable reportedly died by suicide at his house in Malakpet on Wednesday evening.

Janavath Kiran (36), a 2014-batch constable, was working at the Filmnagar police station in the city for the last few months.

On Wednesday, he applied for leave and did not go to work.

In the evening, his family found Kiran hanging from a ceiling fan.

“We went to the house and shifted the body for a postmortem examination to the mortuary. A probe is on to find the exact reason that might have forced him to end his life,” Malakpet Inspector P Naresh said.

Sources said the constable was facing family issues and slipped into depression.

A case was registered and senior officials visited the house as part of the investigation.
