Depressed over personal problems, male nurse ends life in Hyderabad

A male nurse, who was reportedly depressed over personal problems, died by suicide allegedly by administering himself with a lethal injection

Hyderabad: A male nurse, who was reportedly depressed over personal problems, died by suicide allegedly by administering himself a lethal injection at his workplace in Bachupally on Friday night.

The victim identified as Mehraj Alam (25) from West Bengal came to the city four years ago and had been working as a male nurse in a private hospital in Bachupally for the last one year.

As per available information, Mehraj Alam who was upset over issues in his personal life had administered an overdose of lethal injection at the hospital ward. He was found lying unconscious by his co- nurses, who rushed him to the emergency ward, where the doctors declared him dead.

Police suspect Mehraj was upset over family issues, which would have forced him to take the extreme step. Based on a complaint, the Bachupally police booked a case and are investigating.

The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
