Khammam: The State government’s development agenda and Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar’s political acumen steered the TRS to the sweeping victory in Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections.

The minister, who shouldered the responsibility of TRS victory in KMC polls, launched election campaigning on April 19 after offering prayers at Ayyappa Swamy Temple at Srinivasa Nagar colony marking his birthday and covered all the 60 divisions with his election rallies.

Ajay Kumar focused on development achieved in the city in recent years and was able to convince the voters on that count. At every election rally which he addressed, he presented the details of funds released by the government and listed out the development works executed.

Budgetary provision of Rs 150 crore towards Khammam development made by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, sanction for funds worth Rs 45 crore towards road works and IT Minister, KT Rama Rao’s approval for Rs 36 crore to set up second phase IT hub in Khammam were the key points he highlighted during campaigning.

The minister dedicated most of his campaign addresses to explain to the voters about the progress the city witnessed besides how the welfare schemes benefitted the people. He was able to attract a large number of opposition workers into TRS during the elections to strengthen the party.

Selection of right candidates and forming an election alliance with CPI have made the TRS to make its mark in the KMC elections. The support of the senior leaders like Nama Nageswar Rao, Tummala Nageswar Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has come handy.

Giving the credit of TRS’s victory to the minister Sathupalli, MLA S Venkata Veeraiah noted Ajay Kumar’s great vision which ensured unprecedented development in the city and improving standards of people helped the party to win.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Ajay Kumar said: “The KMC elections once again proved that the people are fully happy with the leadership of Chandrashekhar Rao, development and welfare schemes being implemented by the government”.

No matter who the opponent was and what the election was the only pink flag would ever bloom, the minister said while thanking the voters and the party senior leaders and cadres for their collective efforts towards the TRS victory.
