Khammam: TRS leaders and legislators celebrated the party’s victory in KMC elections here on Tuesday by bursting crackers and thanked the voters for their support to the party.

ZP Chairman, L Kamalraj, MLC, B Lakshminarayana, MLAs Ramulu Naik and S Venkata Veeraiah, DCC Bank Chairman, K Nagabhushaiah, SUDA Chairman, Bachu Vijay Kumar and CPI district secretary P Prasad addressed a press conference and congratulated the newly elected corporators.

The KMC election verdict should be an eye opener for the opposition parties that made false allegations and targetted Transport Minister, Puvvada Ajay Kumar with personal remarks, stated ZP Chairman, Kamalraj. After Telangana formation Khammam witnessed rapid progress with the support of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao, who trusted Ajay Kumar’s ability and released hundreds of crores of funds.

Collective efforts made by the TRS leaders helped the party to register a thumping victory, Kamalaraj said while asking the newly elected corporators to be accountable to people and address their problems.

Being a national party Congress was not able to get at least fifty percent of votes polled for the TRS candidates. Around 93, 730 votes have been polled for TRS and CPI candidates together while Congress-CPI(M) together got only 39, 434 votes, he explained. Lakshminarayana said Khammam people voted for development giving a landslide victory to TRS. Around 54 per cent people voted in favour of TRS.It would boost the party morale to work for further development of the city.

BJP, though a national party the votes it got were much lesser than NOTA votes, the MLC said while MLA Veeraiah noted that though they expected to win 50 seats because of few technical mistakes the party lost four to five seats.

MLA Naik felt that the results of KMC and other elections in the State set a mood for the next Assembly elections indicating more victories for TRS in future. CPI leader Prasad said CPI-TRS alliance was formed to keep communal forces away from Khammam.
