Rajanna-Sircilla: A huge number of devotees thronged Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada, on the occasion of auspicious Kartika Pournami on Friday.
Pilgrims were seen arriving at the shrine early in the morning and having darshan of the presiding deity after taking holy dip in the temple tank (dharmagundam).
The women folk were seen lighting lamps since it is a ritual during Kartika masam. While a majority of the devotees offered the most famous ritual in the shrine ‘Kode Mokku’ (tying an Ox in front of sanctum), newly wedded couples participated in the kunkuma puja.
Temple town was packed with the devotees as scores of the people thronged the shrine from different parts of the state as well as adjacent states. Pilgrims were seen standing in serpentine queue lines to have the darshan of lord Siva.
Similarly, all Shiva temples as well as other ancient shrines in the erstwhile Karimnagar district witnessed heavy rush. Pilgrims made a beeline to the historic Koti Lingala, Dharmapuri, Kaleshwaram and other temples.
