Rajanna-Sircilla: Devotees thronged Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple in large numbers as Monday is considered an auspicious day for the Lord Shiva.
Scores of pilgrims from different parts of the State rushed to the shrine on Monday.
Generally, the newly-married couple would take part in Nitya Kalyanam, which is one of the famous rituals in the shrine. There was a huge demand for Kalyanam tickets since the temple was closed till recently due to lockdown.
Every day, 100 tickets would be issued to devotees to take part in Kalyanam. In the wake of demand from pilgrims, temple authorities issued 150 tickets on Monday.
After issuing 150 tickets, the staff closed the Kalyanam tickets counter. However, devotees waiting in the Kalyanam tickets queue line gatecrashed barricades and entered into arguments with staff. On the other hand, devotees were seen waiting in queues to have a darshan of Rajarajeshwara Swamy besides offering Kode Mokkulu (offering bulls to god). It took four hours to have a darshan of the presiding deity since more than 30,000 devotees thronged the shrine.
