Leave it to Drake to announce his album release date in the most creative way! The Canadian rapper interrupted an ESPN SportsCenter morning broadcast to reveal the release date for his upcoming album, ‘Certified Lover Boy’.
SportsCenter started off with its normal introduction of sports highlights before it was interrupted with glitchy clips and muffled vocals. As reported on ‘Just Jared’, it then ended with a cardboard sign that read, “CLB September 3rd.”
Later, SportsCenter took Twitter to apologise for the glitch. “We want to apologize for any interruptions viewers might have experienced during SportsCenter this morning. We had some technical difficulties that have since been resolved(sic),” an official tweet read.
However, it’s still unclear if Drizzy actually announced the release date or not. “lmao technical difficulties my a–, can’t believe drake chose sports center to tease an album (sic),” tweeted a fan. “Drizzy drake baby!!!! Let’s goooo (sic),” replied back another Twitter user. “That fact that they are apologizing means it was done on purpose. Drake going next level with the promos (sic),” added a fan.
‘Certified Lover Boy’ is the upcoming sixth studio album by Drake. It is set to be released through OVO Sound and Republic Records on September 3. It was first scheduled to be released in January 2021, but its release has been postponed due to a medical injury.
