Hyderabad: The internal bickering in the Congress party came to the fore once again as TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yaskhi Goud found fault with Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy for attending YS Vijayamma’s ‘Atmiya Sammelanam’ held in the city on Thursday.
The Congress party had issued orders directing the leaders and workers not to attend former Chief Minister late YS Rajashekhara Reddy’s wife YS Vijayamma’s ‘Atmiya Sammelanam’. Despite this, MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had attended the programme.
“Irrespective of the designation, if any leader defies party dictate, then it will be considered as working against the party’s interests. The high command would take a call on taking action against such leaders,” said Madhu Yaskhi Goud while speaking to media persons here on Saturday.
“People are free to leave the Congress party but they should not indulge in backstabbing,” said Madhu Yaskhi Goud. He further pointed out that YS Vijayamma had clearly said that the former Chief Minister was not in favour of separate Telangana. “How will Komatireddy justify this,” questioned the TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman. He said that YS Vijayamma’s programme was not an Atmiya Sammelanam but was a political gathering.
On the contrary, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy reportedly said that he would not leave the Congress party and would continue to work for the party’s cause. On the orders issued by the party not to attend YS Vijayamma’s programme, he said the party had issued those orders just hours before the programme. “The party could have held a meeting in advance and decided on the issue. How would leaders or workers know about any orders issued suddenly,” Komatireddy said.
