Dilshada Raihan elected University of Hyderabad Students’ Union president
The AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF alliance won the University of Hyderabad Students’ Union elections, with SFI’s Dilshada Raihan elected president. Korra Nithin Chauhan won vice-president and Pratik secured general secretary, while the alliance also bagged the joint secretary and cultural secretary posts.

Hyderabad: After securing victories in Delhi University and Punjab University and even winning accolades from BJP top brass, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) failed to retain its dominance in the University of Hyderabad (UoH) Students Union elections results declared here on Wednesday.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) UoH unit defeated the ABVP UoH, winning the president post with a margin of 451 votes. Dilshada Raihan of SFI has been elected as the president of the union. She received 2178 votes, while Naresh Podishetty of ABVP polled 1,727 votes.
During the last year’s elections, ABVP swept all six major posts, breaking a seven-year dominance by left-leaning alliances on the campus.
This time, Korra Nithin Chauhan of TSF won the vice president post with 1608 votes and Pratik of ASA bagged the general secretary seat. Joint secretary and cultural secretary posts also went to the AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF alliance, with Sidhant of AISA and Abhinash of ASA winning the seats respectively.
This year, UoH elections saw AISA-ASA-DSU-SFI-TSF, PDSU-MSF-Fraternity-NSUI, and ABVP-SLVD forming alliances. Around 80 percent out of 5,900 votes were polled on Monday. As many as 220 candidates were in fray for nine central posts and 59 school board councillor seats across 13 schools. The counting that began on Tuesday afternoon went on till early morning hours of Wednesday.
