Hyderabad: Thirty-one researchers associated with the University of Hyderabad (UoH) featured in the 2026 Stanford–Elsevier database of highly cited researchers, widely known as the “world’s top 2% scientists” list. The UoH has been ranked third among Central Universities, after Banaras Hindu University and the University of Delhi.
Among the total, nine each are from the School of Chemistry and the School of Life Sciences, four from the School of Computer and Information Sciences, three from the School of Physics and two each from the School of Humanities (English), Centre for Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences and the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials.
Developed through work involving Stanford University and Elsevier, the database provides publicly accessible, standardised indicators of researchers’ citation impact. The 2026 update draws on Scopus records and covers 20 broad fields and 174 subfields.
Researchers are selected if they rank among the top 100,000 by composite citation score or among the top 2% in their subfield. The assessment incorporates citations, co-authorship and authorship positions, with indicators provided both with and without self-citations. The career-long list measures cumulative citation impact through the end of 2025; the single-year list considers citations received during 2025.
