Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A 64-year-old farmer died by suicide after consuming pesticide, reportedly distressed over heavy losses in cotton cultivation, at Chintakunta village in Sirpur (T) mandal on Saturday.

According to family members and police, the farmer, identified as Pittala Durgaiah, was deeply upset after suffering severe losses due to a sharp decline in cotton yield caused by unfavourable weather conditions. He had cultivated cotton on his farmland after borrowing money, but was unable to repay the mounting debts following the poor harvest.

His wife, Durgamma, lodged a complaint with the police, who have registered a case and launched an investigation. The exact extent of the loan and losses is yet to be determined.
