‘Rangam’ director KV Anand passes away due to heart stroke 

Some of Anand’s noted flicks include 'Rangam', ‘Brothers’ and the Suriya starrer 'Bandobast' which tells the story of how a police officer struggles to save the life of Prime Minister from an impending threat.

Hyderabad: Prominent Tamil director and cinematographer KV Anand passed away following cardiac arrest in the wee hours of Friday. He was 54.
Some of Anand’s noted flicks include ‘Rangam’, ‘Brothers’ and the Suriya starrer ‘Bandobast’ which tells the story of how a police officer struggles to save the life of Prime Minister from an impending threat.

Although he started his career with the Malayalam film ‘Thenmavin Kombath’ as a cinematographer, Anand  worked as a cameraman for Mohan Babu starrer ‘Punya Bhoomi Naa Desam’. Later, he went on to work for a few biggest blockbusters in Bollywood and Southern cinema — ‘Nayak: The Real Hero’, ‘Boys’, ‘Sivaji’ which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Cinematographer.

In 2005, he made his debut as a director with the movie ‘Kana Kandean’. He came to light with political action thriller ‘Ko’ which was later dubbed in Telugu as ‘Rangam’ which earned critical acclaim and did commercially well.

Several actors and film celebrities cutting across regions expressed grief. Mohanlal on twitter wrote, “Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. K.V. Anand sir you will be missed forever. Prayers for the departed soul.”

Allu Arjun took to his Instagram and wrote, “Just woke up to this sad news that Director KV Anand garu is no more. Wonderful cameraman, brilliant director and very nice gentleman. Sir, you will always be remembered and missed. Condolences to the near, dear and family. Rest in Peace sir.”

Harris Jayaraj wrote on Twitter, “Unfortunate and extremely shocking to hear this devastating News. RIP my friend KV Anand.”
