DJ sound systems prohibited during religious processions in Hyderabad

Meanwhile, the use of sound systems will be permitted, but with certain restrictions in the sound decibel limits in an effort to control noise pollution during religious processions.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand has issued orders prohibiting Disc Jockey (DJ) sound systems which are powered mobile speakers delivering high decibel sound and firecrackers, during religious processions in the city.

The order came after a recent coordination meeting by the Hyderabad Police with organisers of various religious processions, representatives of various political parties and government departments to discuss the concerns raised by the citizens during the recent religious processions.


As per the notification issued on September 30, the use of DJ sound systems, DJ sound mixers, sound amplifiers and other high sound generating equipment, appliances and apparatus or contrivance which is capable of producing or reproducing the sound are prohibited during religious processions.

Meanwhile, the use of sound systems will be permitted, but with certain restrictions in the sound decibel limits in an effort to control noise pollution during religious processions.

A loud speaker or public address system or DJ system shall not be used during the nights from 10 pm to 6 am, the notification further read. Event organisers as well as the equipment dealers (and companies) will have to obtain police clearance for the same.

The Commissioner said violation of the orders will lead to penal action under sections of the Hyderabad City Police Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Environment Protection Act and other laws.

* A loud speaker or a public address system or a DJ system not to be used between l0 pm to 5 am

* Silence Zone is defined as an areo comprising not less than 100 meters around hospitals, educational institutions and courts
