Huzurabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has appealed to the people not to believe in the fake campaign unleashed by the BJP in various social media platforms.
Recalling the Dubbak by-election, the Minister said as soon as polling started, a TV channel started running a scroll stating that the Congress candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy had met Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and that he was offered a post.
Immediately after the mischievous propaganda, people were confused. People should not believe fake videos being circulated on social media platforms, Harish Rao said, addressing a press conference here on Wednesday evening after campaigning came to a close.
In the case of Huzurabad, the BJP leaders are in a dilemma since the victory of TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav is a foregone conclusion. “All surveys carried out by TV channels, independent organizations and others confirmed the victory of the TRS candidate. Even a survey conducted by BJP gave victory to Srinivas Yadav. Unable to stomach this, some BJP leaders had even smashed their mobile phones in anger,” he said.
Pointing out that BJP leaders had tried to create confusion among the voters by spreading wrong propaganda that the TRS was planning to distribute Rs 20,000 to each voter a few days ago, Harish Rao said while BJP was in favor of distributing money, liquor and meat among voters, TRS was dependent on Kalyanalaxmi, Aasara pensions, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and 24-hour free power supply.
Four Union Ministers, BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and party leaders G Vivek, AP Jitender Reddy and Vijayashanthi camped in Huzurabad for the past one month and toured every nook and corner of the constituency, he said, adding that they, however, failed to tell the public what they would do if their candidate was elected in the bypoll. Except for criticising TRS president Chandrashekhar Rao, they did nothing for the constituency. Moreover, Rajender himself failed to explain to the people why he resigned from the State Assembly.
“After spending a long time in the government and praising the Chief Minister as a great leader, Rajender is now criticising Chandrashekhar Rao for his selfish gains, and this has not gone down well not only with the TRS leadership but also the common public,” Harish Rao said, and pointed out that the BJP also tried to create confusion among the public on the Dalit Bandhu scheme seeking its suspension by the ECI.
