Hyderabad: Death came calling for a 40-year-old doctor Laxman at a nursing home in Gandhari mandal in Kamareddy district on Sunday after he died of cardiac arrest while giving treatment to a senior citizen Jagiya Naik, who also suffered the same problem.

Sixty-year-old Naik, a resident of Gunjala thanda, developed cardiac arrest in the morning. His family members rushed him to SV Srija nursing home in Gandhari mandal. While giving treatment to Naik in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Laxman suddenly collapsed.

Even as his colleagues tried to save him by giving treatment, Laxman did not respond and breathed his last. Left with no other option, the hospital staff shifted Laxman’s body from the ICU. Since the condition of Naik also deteriorated, the family members rushed him to another hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Following the incident, heart-rending scenes witnessed at the hospital as the staff and Naik’s family members wept inconsolably. “It all happened in seconds. The doctor was attending to the patient Naik when he collapsed suddenly and died,” the staff told media persons.

Hailing from Mahbubabad district, Laxman, who was also working as an assistant professor in Nizamabad district medical college, was staying in a portion atop the hospital. The family members of Laxman and Naik took the bodies and shifted to the native places for conducting last rites.
