Khammam: The health officials here refuted reports about detection of black fungus case in the district on Saturday. A panicky situation prevailed in the district as a few vernacular news channels telecast the news of black fungus symptoms in a patient who had tested positive for Covid-19.
Government District Hospital Superintendent Dr B Venkatewswarlu told reporters that a 38-year-old person from from Nereda village of Chintakani mandal in the district and who works at Mondrai village in Jangaon district had tested positive for Covid on May 10.
Following doctors’ advice he went into home isolation at his relatives house in Khammam. On Friday night he suffered severe breathing problems and was shifted to the district hospital. On Saturday, the doctors found that he showed symptoms such as nerve palsy, ptosis cataract and others and advised him to go to Hyderabad for further evaluation and better treatment, the Superintendent said.
