Hyderabad: A youngster who suffered a heart attack at an unusually young age of just 19 years was saved by the surgeons at Medicover Hospitals, Nizamabad.

G.Mahesh, a resident of Perkit village, Armoor mandal in Nizamabad district, who had completed his second-year Intermediate earlier this year, was rushed to the emergency wing of Medicover Hospital on Thursday, when he complained of chest pain at home.

Investigations revealed that Mahesh suffered myocardial infarction i.e., a heart attack and a team led by cardiologist, Dr. Anand Raj, immediately took-up minimally invasive procedure to open the blocked coronary arteries of the youngsters. Background check of the boy’s family revealed that his father too had suffered a heart attack twice at a young age of 33 years and 34 years and stents were inserted each time.

“Witnessing heart attack cases among such young people is disturbing. In this case, we found that the heart episode was linked to hereditary. But many young people suffer similar health conditions due to lack of regular physical exercise and poor lifestyle choices,” Dr. Anand Raj said.
