Nalgonda: Nalgonda MLA Kancherla Bhupal Reddy on Tuesday asked farmers not to sell their paddy to middlemen and commission agents, which would lead to denial of minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.
Speaking after launching an IKP paddy procurement centre at Dhandempally in the district, the MLA said farmers should only sell their paddy at PACS and IKP paddy procurement centres which have been set up in their villages. The farmers should not sell their crop at prices lower than MSP to anyone under any circumstances as the government is taking steps to ensure remunerative prices for crops in addition to extending investment support, providing irrigation facility and 24 hours free electricity supply to agriculture pump sets, he noted.
The legislator said that farmers’ cooperation plays a crucial role in effective implementation of the welfare schemes taken up by the State government to restore the past glory to agriculture sector. Income and living standard of agrarian society and rural folks had gone up significantly in the last six years due to the initiatives taken up by the State government, he added.
