Hyderabad: The commissioning of the 10.45 km double line between Mahabubnagar and Divitipalli is all set to enhance the rail connectivity between Hyderabad and other major cities located towards the southern region such as Kurnool, Anantapur, Kadapa, Bengaluru and Tirupati. The project is being executed by the Railway PSU, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
According to the SCr, the Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar doubling and electrification project is one of the crucial projects for strengthening the rail operations in the state of Telangana.
The project was sanctioned for a distance of 85 km at an estimated cost of Rs 774 crore. The section between Secunderabad and Umdanagar for a distance of 28 kms has already been completed as part of MMTS Phase I and II.
Now, with the completion of the 10.45 km stretch between Mahabubnagar and Divitipalli, except for the small portion of 15 km between Divitipalli and Gollapalli, a major portion of the project is completed. The works in the balance section along with electrification are also nearing completion.
Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, South Central Railway, instructed the officials to expeditiously complete the rest of the project in the current financial year.
