Hyderabad: Research and investigation is the true spirit of science learning. Delhi Public School, Nadergul, initiated Independent Research Project to provide exposure to research to students at a very young age. Independent Research Project (IRP) is an investigation-based research project which is accomplished by students followed by the presentation of their findings.
Students from classes I to X are given topics for investigation justifying their levels and are asked to submit their findings in the form of a research paper/journal/ article. With the topics as simple as why do we get hiccups to complex topics about life existing on other planets, drones replacing humans and smart clothes. Students are given diverse topics to research their surroundings, science behind natural processes, technologies of past, present and future.
Students are trained to write a document of their findings starting with abstract writing and ending with a conclusion supported with evidence and investigatory findings. IRP is one of the major activities in which all students enthusiastically participate and share their research work. With continuous support and guidance from teachers, students learn scientific methods of investigation and problem-solving.
IRP is not only limited to enhance research skills but also ensures that students have good communication, presentation and public speaking skills. The presentation of IRP showcases all these and provides an opportunity to hone these skills. IRP kindles young minds with awareness, attentiveness, observation and analysis of nature and natural processes which is a step forward in making responsible, logical and enlightened citizens of the nation in the future.
