Hyderabad: Senior cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon and Managing Trustee of Hyderabad-based Usha Mullapudi Cardiac Centre, Dr Ratnam V Mullapudi passed away in the early hours of Monday, February 23. He was 88 years old.
Dr Ratnam V Mullapudi gave up a successful practice as a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon in the United States and returned to India along with his wife, Dr Nalini Mullapudi.
The senior CT surgeon established Usha Mullapudi Cardiac Centre in 1998 in Hyderabad as a non-profit trust and charitable hospital.
Dr Ratnam has performed over 20,000 cardiac surgeries and has been instrumental in saving the lives of numerous patients.
Through Usha Mullapudi Cardiac Centre, Dr Ratnam provided quality cardiac care to patients, especially those from economically weaker sections of society, at very low cost, the management of Usha Mullapudi Cardiac Centre, senior doctors, and known associates in Hyderabad said on Monday.
Dr Ratnam is survived by his wife Dr Nalini Mullapudi and daughter Jyothi Mullapudi.
