DRI seizes 27 kg hydroponic ganja, arrests seven in airport bust
The DRI arrested seven people smuggling 27.15 kg of hydroponic ganja, valued at Rs 9.5 crore, from passengers arriving from Bangkok. The substance tested positive for cannabis, and all accused were booked under the NDPS Act, 1985.

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence arrested seven persons who were smuggling Hydroponic ganja on Friday and seized 27.15 kilograms of the contraband, weighing around Rs 9.5 crores from them.
Acting on specific information, the officers intercepted four passengers who arrived from Bangkok by Thai Airways flight and checked their baggage.
“On systematic examination of the check-in baggage of the passengers, multiple packets containing greenish-brown lumpy substance concealed inside trolley bags were recovered. The recovered substance tested positive for ganja using a Narcotic Drug Detection Kit. Three other persons were arrested during the process of four suspects handing over their check-in baggage,” said the DRI officials.
Accordingly, 27.15 kilograms of hydroponic weed were seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
All seven accused persons involved in the case have been arrested under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is in progress.
